INFORMATION PAGE:

Stress and anger are the two principal factors that can precipitate an inappropriate act of violence towards another person. Intimate partners, family members, friends, co-workers, employees or employers, business associates, business clients or even strangers can be the victims of this behavior.

While anger is a natural and normal human emotion, it can sometimes get out of control and result in destructive interpersonal relationships, workplace issues, legal issues, and a less than desirable quality of life.

Exhibiting anger can place you in harm's way and can create a serious disruption in normal relationships.

Instinctively, one's immediate reaction to our perception that we are being attacked is to respond angrily and aggressively. You cannot control what other people say, however, you can control your responses to what they say. Nevada Anger Management classes teach you in a simple and effective way to control your responses by giving you the knowledge and understanding of your stress and anger, by enhancing your emotional intelligence and improving your communication skills.

Anger and the angry reaction is a learned behavior rather than a mental or nervous disorder. Anger is not a medical diagnosis. It is a learned behavior which produces inappropriate responses and individuals with anger issues need re-training so that their angry responses and aggressiveness are reduced and assertive skills, empathy and stress management skills are improved.

Sometimes, in certain circumstances, it may be necessary for a client to be evaluated and treated by a health care professional or therapist and the appropriate referral will be made.

NEVADA ANGER MANAGEMENT does not offer therapy or medication to control anger issues. Ours is a skill enhancement program which teaches the mental tools necessary to change your behavior. The course emphasis is not only on Anger Management but also on Stress Management, Emotional Intelligence and Communications. For those individuals who require additional training, we offer classes in improving Self Esteem, and more intense classes in Stress Management and Emotional Intelligence.

We only offer educational programs which have been found to be highly effective in attaining new levels of control over stress and anger related issues. Our programs are not therapy and are not intended to replace professional psychological or psychiatric counseling.

What can you hope to gain by attending Anger Management classes? Nevada Anger Management will provide the tools for reprogramming your ability to respond to stress, frustration, and helplessness and plan for managing anger and stress patterns. Individual results from the curriculum may vary and require motivation and discipline on behalf of the participant.

How effective are our programs? A recent study by Dr. Sinert and others has concluded that our program can improve your assertive skills by as much as 60% to 100%; Empathy can improve by as much 50% to 100%; Stress Management skills can improve up to 100%; Interpersonal Aggressiveness can decrease by as much as 50% to 80% or more.

How are these factors measured? We use a special and simple entrance examination (the Conover Anger Management Assessment) to assess your skill levels in Interpersonal Assertion, Empathy, Stress Management and Interpersonal Aggression as well as your motivation to change your behavior. This same assessment is again used at the end of the program to measure your improvement. So we have a baseline measurement up front and another measurement at the end for comparison purposes. To our knowledge, we are the only Anger Management program that uses these assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of your training.
